Moving Up to Ryedale Information 2024

Each year, we are pleased to be able to accommodate a high number of families who make the positive choice to send their children to Ryedale School from outside of our catchment area. We are very confident we will be able to offer places to all current Year 6s who would like a place in our school from September 2024. Please contact Mrs Kate Davis via email: execpa@ryedalelearningtrust.co.uk for details on how to secure a place.

Our comprehensive programme of induction activities will enable our new Year 7 cohort for September 2024 to experience life at Ryedale School, gain confidence with the move to secondary school and make new friends.

Application to NYCC

Following the Presentation Evenings in October, parents must register their preference of secondary school with NYCC School Admissions. The deadline for applications is the 31st October and it is essential that all families meet this deadline. Parents are informed of the allocation list at the beginning of March via a letter from NYCC.

Transition Activities

Once we have our confirmed cohort for September, we write to all parents in early May with final arrangements for the forthcoming events. All of our students receive an invitation to a Literacy Day which takes place during May.

On this day our students are given the opportunity to take part in a range of literacy based activities. In addition to meeting key staff, staying for lunch in the school canteen and meeting Year 6 students from other primaries, the Year 6’s get to take out their first reading book from our school library!

  • Literacy Week - Week commencing Monday 20th May 2024

  • Induction Day – Wednesday 12th June 2024

  • Open Evening – Thursday 27th June 2024

  • Activities Afternoon – Friday 5th July 2024
